SERVICE AND SAFETY

High level of customer satisfaction

Surveys repeatedly confirm that people are glad to make regular use of the range of services offered by Wiener Linien.

Service: The customer is king

Nevertheless, Wiener Linien is not content to rest on its laurels – quite the opposite in fact. The Company considers it one of its most important tasks to constantly analyse its activities and to look for ways to optimise its range of services. In every instance, the customer always comes first. Service and advice must be provided as comprehensively, as competently, and as simply as possible.

Wiener Linien has always felt it its duty to lead the company with an eye on sustainability. As a result, it is logical that the better and more customer-friendly the range of services offered by Wiener Linien, the more people will use public transport – and, by extension, the more effective policies to protect the environment will be in Vienna.

Optimum service – optimum safety

Safety goes hand-in-hand with service. After all, people should be able to reach their destination with public transport in a quick, comfortable and safe way, free of any incidents. Consequently, optimum service also means ensuring the highest standards of safety – by providing Wiener Linien employees with intensive and comprehensive safety training, by performing regular checks and service work on vehicles and facilities, by sparing no expense in ensuring the quality of materials used and by implementing comprehensive structural and operational safety measures. These are constantly brought into line with the most recent developments and are usually considerably more stringent than the legal requirements.

SAFELY ACROSS VIENNA

Door sensors: More safety for passengers

Safety is of paramount importance to Wiener Linien. Moreover, passenger safety is one of the primary concerns of Wiener Linien, which is why the Company is constantly working to improve this.

The most recent project is to fit so-called door sensors into tramcars. They immediately detect if an object has been trapped between the doors – even smaller objects such as dog leads and items of clothing which were not previously recognised by conventional pneumatic sensors.

By 2010, 132 type E1 tramcars and 107 type c3 and c4 trailers are set to be fitted with these sensors. In this way, the highest standards of safety available with modern technology will have been attained. The residual risk of being injured when boarding and alighting has thus been reduced to a minimum thanks to the fitting of these sensors.

Integrated quality management system (QSE)

In 2008, Wiener Linien continued to successfully implement its integrated quality management system QSE. This abbreviation stands for quality, safety and environmental management, and means that the Company closely examines the services it provides for any single target group – customers, employees and society. The aim is to identify synergies which render its services even more efficient and, finally, to improve this area permanently for everyone.
